I am using DB2 v9.7 and while installing a new fixpack I get below error message.I tried on v9.5 and still get the same error.<\/p>\n<p>OS: RHEL 6.5<\/p>\n<p>DB2: v9.7 and v9.5<\/p>\n<p>Stopping DB2 Fault Monitor :&#8230;&#8230;.Failure<br \/>\n<strong>ERROR: The installFixPack command detected some DB2 libraries are still loaded<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>in memory and some applications might still be running in the current<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>installation copy.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All applications must be stopped. See the fix pack readme<br \/>\nfor pre-installation instructions, and re-run the installFixPack command.<br \/>\nAlternatively, to override automatic checking, you can re-issue the<br \/>\ninstallFixPack command with the &#8216;-f db2lib&#8217; parameter.<\/p>\n<p>Note: If you re-issue<br \/>\nthe installFixPack command with the &#8216;-f db2lib&#8217; parameter, after the DB2<br \/>\ninstances are updated, some applications might not work properly and might need<br \/>\nto be restarted to function properly against the updated DB2 instance. Preparing the system :&#8230;&#8230;.Failure<\/p>\n<p>Below image for error description,<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-1124 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.middlewareprimer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/db2error.png\" alt=\"DB2 libraries are still loaded in memory\" width=\"642\" height=\"203\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.middlewareprimer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/db2error.png 642w, http:\/\/www.middlewareprimer.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/10\/db2error-300x95.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 642px) 100vw, 642px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Resolution<\/p>\n<p>IBM Technote link stating about the issue is given here, <a href=\"http:\/\/www-01.ibm.com\/support\/docview.wss?uid=swg21509240\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">http:\/\/www-01.ibm.com\/support\/docview.wss?uid=swg21509240 <\/a><\/p>\n<p>We need to make sure that,<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.<\/strong> db2prechk returns 0 before performing the Fixpack installation.<\/p>\n<p>Below command should return 0 so that we can go for Fix pack upgrade otherwise check the log message for exact error.<\/p>\n<p>&lt;DB2 installed directory&gt;instance\/db2prechk -b \/opt\/ibm\/db2\/V9.7 -d;echo $?<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.<\/strong> db2 libraries process list should not be returned during fixpack installation.<\/p>\n<p>This command given below shouldn&#8217;t list any libraries and incase any of the loaded libraries comes up, we may have to kill the process or stop any other application using DB2.<\/p>\n<p><tt>lsof +D \/opt\/ibm\/db2\/V9.7<\/tt><\/p>\n<p>Assuming that \/opt\/ibm\/db2\/V9.7 is our installed DB2 directory.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>3.<\/strong>\u00a0Before installing a fix pack, if there are DB2 database products installed in the selected installation path, you must stop all of the DB2 processes.
