CHECK_NRPE: Error – Could Not Complete SSL Handshake error pops up in Nagios console after setting up NRPE agent in Linux server.<\/p>\n

Nagios product team have given NRPE troubleshooting steps in a pdf and in one of them they clarly explain on what could be the problem. Follow those steps and the issue will be resolved.<\/p>\n

1. Login to the Linux server where NRPE is installed.<\/p>\n

2. Open the nrpe configuration file, \/usr\/local\/nagios\/etc\/nrpe.cfg<\/p>\n

3. Modify allowed_hosts attribute as shown below,<\/p>\n

allowed_hosts=127.0.0.1,<nagios server ip>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 –> Nagios server IP needs to be provided here.<\/p>\n

The allowed_hosts is a comma-separated list of IP addresses which can execute NRPE commands.<\/p>\n

4. Edit the nrpe daemon file by as<\/p>\n

vi \/etc\/xinetd.d\/nrpe<\/p>\n

5. For only_from attribute, make sure that Nagios server IP is included there as shown below,<\/p>\n

only_from = 127.0.0.1 <Nagios server ip>\u00a0 –> Nagios server IP needs to be provided here.<\/p>\n

Note:<\/p>\n

only_from is a space-delimited list.<\/p>\n

allowed_hosts has comma separated IPs.<\/p>\n

6. restart xinetd service as, service xinetd restart<\/p>\n

This will resolve the problem.<\/p>\n
