Recently I have done an upgrade for IBM Installation manager from v1.4 to v1.7. Customer was on WAS v8.0 and he used IIM v1.4 during first set of Installations. So he was migrating to v8.5 and also required this IIM to be migrated.<\/p>\n<p>IBM Installation Manager v1.7 Knowledge Center link for reference <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ibm.com\/support\/knowledgecenter\/SSDV2W_1.7.0\/com.ibm.cic.commandline.doc\/topics\/t_imcl_update_im.html\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/span><\/a>. Note that we cannot roll back to a previous version after the upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>There are two ways to perform this upgrade,<\/p>\n<p>1. Updating Installation Manager on a computer that have Internet access<\/p>\n<p>2. Updating Installation Manager on a computer that doesn&#8217;t have Internet access<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Below is the process for upgrade to a later version,<\/p>\n<p>1. Updating Installation Manager on a computer that have Internet access<\/p>\n<p>Navigate to &lt;IIM Installation Location&gt;\/eclipse\/tools directory,<\/p>\n<p>Execute the command, .\/imcl install com.ibm.cic.agent<\/p>\n<p>This will be sufficient for an IBM installation Manager upgrade.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>2. Updating Installation Manager on a computer that doesn&#8217;t have Internet access<\/p>\n<p>When we don&#8217;t have any internet access (an ideal case for every customer) proceed with following commands,<\/p>\n<p>Download the installer package, <samp class=\"ph codeph\">agent.installer.<var class=\"keyword varname ibm-item-note-alternate\">platform<\/var>\u200b\u200b_<var class=\"keyword varname ibm-item-note-alternate\">version<\/var>.zip<\/samp>, or the fix pack, <samp class=\"ph codeph\">com.ibm.cic.agent.offering\u200b\u200b_<var class=\"keyword varname ibm-item-note-alternate\">version<\/var>.zip\u200b<\/samp>, to update <span class=\"keyword\">Installation Manager<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>Create a new directory and Unzip the agent.installer.<var class=\"keyword varname ibm-item-note-alternate\">platform<\/var>\u200b\u200b_<var class=\"keyword varname ibm-item-note-alternate\">version<\/var>.zip file<\/p>\n<p>Navigate to IIM tools directory and execute below command,<\/p>\n<p>.\/imcl install com.ibm.cic.agent -repositories <var class=\"keyword varname ibm-item-note-alternate\">installation_files<\/var>\/repository.config -preferences offering.service.repositories.areUsed=false<\/p>\n<p>Example: .\/imcl install com.ibm.cic.agent -repositories \/IIM\/IIM17\/repository.config -preferences offering.service.repositories.areUsed=false<\/p>\n<p>This command is enough to upgrade the IIM from v1.4 to 1.7 (in my case).
