Freedom 251 website crashed
Freedom 251 website crashed and is available now. With all news making around that this is cheapest mobile ever with Rs.251, i was not bothered about that but was wondering how are they going to set up their link and their servers.
Freedom 251 is hosted on Big Rock and their Hosting is on Amazon Web services. They are using Amazon S3 (https://s3-ap-southeast-1.amazonaws.com) for storing all the files.
- You know that there will be Lakhs of users who at least want to check the site, but why didn’t they procure more hardware.
- You may get lakhs of request per second. But what was wondering is the message they put on the site as soon as it went down. 6 lakhs hits per second. This is crazy.
- I have checked their page source and interesting is that, its just a plain html based files and the Buy page is rather very easy form.
- Obviously this site would have crashed when it has reached thousand of hits. I am damn sure that there are issues with the servers (shared or vps or may be instances) which they were not able to handle.
- Performance Testing –> I keep on insisting clients and for this site, they would not have bothered and not sure if they know this term.
Leave away servers, i am not sure if site will run for long using their simple html files. Btw, how much manual effort are they going to do while sending the mails? I am waiting for the purchase link as I have registered and let me check that.
I feel this site is not at all secured, though they have digicert installed.
