Websphere Application Server Version Information

Websphere Application Server Version Information as below,

WebSphere Application Server uses the following naming scheme: V.R.M.F

V = Version
R = Release
M = Modification
F  = Fix pack

Below are Websphere Application Server versions available with latest version stating below,

WAS v8.5.5.0

WAS v8.5.0.0

WAS v8.0.0.0

WAS v7.0.0.0

WAS v6.1.0.0

WAS v6.0.0.0

WAS v5.1.0.0

Each version has in turn has different numbering considering the release of Fixpacks, like WAS v8.0.0.12 where 12 is the Fixpack release number.
Customers always ask me about what is the latest version, which Fixpack needs to be applied, what is the N-1 version for Fixpack, Hardware and Software requirements and most importantly what is the part code for downloading WAS software.  I will post another blog entry containing details about WAS Fix packs, Hardware and Software requirements list and what are the part codes to download WAS software.
